Desert Knowledge
With such a vast number of solar panels on the Australian market, and in an industry where everybody seems to proclaim their panels to be the best, how can you be sure you are actually getting the best?
THE PROOF IS IN THE PRODUCTION!
Desert Knowledge Australia is a commonwealth funded Australian Solar panel test facility in Alice Springs and has been operational since 2008. Desert Knowledge was set up to individually test and compare different types of solar panels under the same real-world conditions, right here in Australia’s red centre.
Positive Energy have put a lot of time and research into this data to ensure that we are offering our customers the very best in performance and reliability, and with real world data to back it up!
SUNPOWER and QCELLS are widely regarded as the ‘Rolls Royce’ of solar panel brands and had their panels installed at the Desert Knowledge test site back in 2011 and 2013 respectively. To this day, they are the top performing panels, even when compared to newer, more recently installed panels.
For example, below is the year-to-date solar production comparing:
SUNPOWER (installed 2011)
QCELLS (installed 2013)
CANADIAN SOLAR (installed 2016)
TDG (installed 2013)
As you can see, the SUNPOWER and QCELLS panels are neck & neck. But compared to the competition, they’re performing over 6% better than CANADIAN SOLAR, and over 26% better than TDG!
So when choosing solar panels for your home, remember that ‘going solar’ is a long-term investment. While it may be tempting to choose a cheap system, in the long-run you could be missing out on significant savings. As the saying goes…
“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”
