Charge UP Workplace EV Charging Grants

Energy Minister Bill Johnston has announced the launch of the Charge Up Workplace Grant Program. A $15 million commitment to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across WA.
This program is part of the McGowan Government’s $60 million package to increase EV uptake and reduce carbon emissions. Round One grants are available to not-for-profit organisations, small and medium businesses, and local government authorities. Each eligible applicant is able to receive up to $50,000 in metropolitan areas and $75,000 in regional and remote areas.
The grants will cover up to half the cost of purchasing and installing charging stations and associated software.
The Charge Up Grants will provide funding for up to four Level Two EV chargers (7 to 22kW AC) per site, for up to five sites, with a cap of $5,000 for installation in metropolitan areas and $10,000 in regional and remote areas. The grants will also cover up to 75% of the cost of a two-year smart charging software subscription.

Round one 16 February 2023 -12 May 2023
- Allocation of $3.75 Million
- Applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis
- Round one will close early if the funding allocation is fully expended.
- 50% of the purchase cost of level 2 (7 to 22 kW) EV chargers chosen from an approved list
- 50% of installation costs
- Funding caps of $5,000 per site apply in the metropolitan area and $10,000 per site apply in regional and remote areas
- 75% of the cost of a 2-year EV charger software subscription, chosen from an approved list.
Eligible applicants can only make one grant application in Round One.
Charge Up Workplace EV Grants criteria
- Applicants who will be using the EV Chargers during daytime hours (9AM-5PM) or overnight (9PM-9AM)
- Charging during peak (5PM-9PM) will not be supported
- Applicants who install the EV charger in WA
- Applicants who are one of the following types of organisation
- Not-for-profits
- Local government authorities
- Small to medium enterprises
