Most home batteries store energy and release it on a simple schedule. The SigEnergy SigenStor does something different. It learns your household, watches the sky, and reads your electricity tariff. Then it decides for itself when to charge and when to discharge.

This post explains what SigEnergy’s AI energy management actually does. It also covers how the SP and TP variants differ, and looks at the coupling options available.

What “AI Energy Management” Actually Means

The term AI is used loosely across the battery industry. In the SigenStor, it refers to a predictive dispatch system that uses three real data inputs.

  • Weather forecasting: The system checks local solar forecasts. If cloud cover is expected in the afternoon, it may hold battery charge overnight instead of using it up in the morning. It knows the afternoon solar top-up will be limited.
  • Historical usage patterns: The system learns your household’s energy use over time. It gets to know your regular high-use periods, such as dinner time, morning showers, and evening entertainment. Then it plans its dispatch around them.
  • Tariff optimisation: For Perth homes on the Synergy Midday Saver or EV Add-On tariffs, the system times charging and discharging to save you money. It charges during low-cost periods and holds charge back for peak periods.

In practice, you can set up the SigenStor and largely leave it to manage itself. The AI features take a few weeks to fully learn your household. After that, the system’s decisions reflect your actual usage, not a generic household average.

SigenStor SP vs TP: Single-Phase and Three-Phase

SigEnergy offers two SigenStor variants. Both use the same AI energy management platform, LFP cell chemistry, and IP66 weatherproofing. The difference is how they connect to your electrical system.

Both SP and TP models switch to backup power in under 5 milliseconds during a grid outage. This is fast enough that most appliances keep running without any noticeable break. Many competing batteries switch in 20 milliseconds or more, which can cause sensitive electronics to reset.

Built-In Safety Features

The SigenStor is built with five separate safety systems. These include aerogel thermal insulation between battery cells, which helps contain heat if a fault happens. There is also a built-in fire suppression system. The battery tracks voltage and temperature at the cell level, and it disconnects automatically under fault conditions. The Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry adds a further layer of safety. LFP cells do not reach thermal runaway at normal home temperatures. This makes them far less prone to fire than older NMC or NCA lithium chemistries.

AC and DC Coupling: Both Options Available

  • DC coupling: The battery connects directly to the solar array through the SigEnergy hybrid inverter. This is recommended for new installations.
  • AC coupling: The battery connects to an existing solar system without replacing the existing inverter. This makes the SigenStor a good fit for households adding battery storage to a system with a non-SigEnergy inverter.

V2X: Vehicle-to-Everything Support

The SigenStor supports vehicle-to-everything (V2X) as an optional feature. This lets a compatible EV send stored energy back through the battery and into your home circuits. In a long grid outage, a 60 to 80 kWh EV battery can stretch backup time well beyond the SigenStor’s own 15.6 kWh.

The SigenStor is also fully modular. Each system takes up to six stackable battery modules of 9 kWh each. This gives total storage from 9 kWh up to 54 kWh in a single stack. You can start with the capacity that suits your needs now, then expand the system later without replacing any core parts.

In Western Australia, Western Power network rules currently allow a maximum of three SigenStor stacks on a 10 kW inverter. This gives a practical maximum of 162 kWh for eligible installations.

Yes, when it is installed in a DC-coupled configuration using the SigEnergy hybrid inverter. DC coupling achieves Whole of Site Compliance.
