Back in 2018, Charles had a 6.6kW system installed using 24 x 275W polycrystalline solar panels and a cheap Growatt inverter. Unfortunately, 5 years later his inverter failed and the original solar company was no longer in business.
Looking on the bright side, Charles decided that if he needed an inverter replacement, he may as well take the opportunity to upgrade to a new Hybrid inverter with Battery.
After consulting with Rory at Positive Energy, the 15kW Sungrow Hybrid inverter was chosen. With 3 x MPPT’s, we were able to rewire the existing 6.6kW of solar panels to the new inverter, plus add an extra 5.28kW of new 440W solar panels to the 3rd MPPT.
In total, Charles now has an 11.88kW system with 16kWh Sungrow Battery which provides more than enough energy for powering his home 24/7.

6-Month savings update
Six months have passed since we upgraded & expanded this system in Parmelia. After checking his stats online, we’re pleased to report that Charles has achieved $1,924 in savings so far!
And thanks to their new West-facing solar panels and 16kWh Battery, Charles and his wife have lived comfortably this Summer by running the air-conditioner freely.
